The Airwrap is easily the most popular hairstyling tool right now. A quick scroll through TikTok, and it’ll feel like everyone and their mother is using the handy tool. While it may offer perfectly styled blowouts and flawless curls, it comes at the price of a very pretty penny. Understandably, not everyone can or wants to buy an Airwrap. Luckily for you, achieving a similar style at home is very easy to do. It’s no surprise that Airwrap styles have gained so much popularity lately. In a recent survey we conducted with readers, we found that 72% of people are more likely to wear their hair down for Valentine’s Day. To coincide with this finding, we discovered that 66.40% of people would rather style their hair themselves at home versus going to a salon. Whether you choose a blow-out, curlers, or a traditional curling iron, Airwrap styles are so easy to achieve yourself. If this sounds like you, you can easily learn how to style your hair yourself and achieve salon-worthy strands for a lot less.

3 Ways to Achieve an Airwrap Style

Keep scrolling to find out three ways you can achieve an Airwrap hairstyle without using an Airwrap. Voluminous blowouts, bouncy curls, and sleek strands are all the rage when styled with an Airwrap. However, these looks can easily be achieved for a lot less with tools you may already have at home.

1. Blow-Dry Brush

The blow-dry brush Airwrap attachment is perfect for achieving a voluminous, smooth blowout. Plus, it’s one of the best ways to style face-framing layers. However, you can buy very similar tools at a much cheaper price point. Once you have your blow-dry brush, section your hair off into layers, apply a heat protectant like Dove Style + Care Smooth and Shine Heat Protection Spray, and begin brushing sections of hair until dry. When brushing your hair, lift the strands at the root to create extra volume. You can also gently curl your hair away from your face towards the end to add more shape to the look. Depending on how thick your hair is, this may take a bit amount of time to do, but trust us, it’s 100% worth it.

2. Blow-Dry and Curler Combo

Over the past six months, curlers have been making a major comeback. Using curlers will give you that similar blowout-with-voluminous-loose-curlers combo. Start by applying a heat protectant and then begin blow-drying your hair in small sections using a round brush. Once the section of hair is dry, while it’s still warm, use jumbo-sized curlers to hold your hair in place. We recommend self-grip curlers for an easy style. After you’ve dried your hair and it cooled off in the curlers, let your hair down to reveal your bouncy loose curls. Lock-in place with a lightweight hair spray. We love Nexxus Weightless Style Ultra Light Hair Spray because it holds your style all day while giving your hair a soft finish.

3. Good Old-Fashioned Curling Iron

While there are many new tools coming out that do wonders for your hair, you can never go wrong with a good old-fashioned curling iron. For this style, we recommend using a 1 1/2 inch curling iron. Begin curling sections of hair by wrapping your hair around the iron once away towards your face, leaving the end out. Hold the curl for 10 seconds and then drag the curling iron down your hair, curling the rest of the section. Repeat this on all of your hair until it’s curled. After your hair is curled and cooled off, use your fingers or a wide-toothed comb to gently brush through your curls. This will loosen the curls, giving you that Airwrap look you’re going for. Lastly, lock in place with hair spray and you’re all set! We love TRESemmé Compressed Micro Mist Texture Hold Level 1 Hair Spray because it’ll hold your style in place without making your hair feel stiff or crunchy.
