Therefore, it’s safe to say that we can only hope to stretch our hairstyles out for as long as possible and get a “bang for our buck.” If you’re like me, then you sometimes struggle to maintain protective styling for long periods of time. Or sometimes, you have to keep in a protective style a little longer than anticipated, and you look for ways to keep the style looking fresh.

Your Wig and Weave Will Look Shiny and Soft

After discovering Shea Moisture’s Wig and Weave Line, I finally found the solution to making your protective styling look fresh regardless of what stage your hairstyle is in. Check out my guide below of all the products I tried, along with how they worked with my hair.

About the Shea Moisture Wig and Weave Line

Shea Moisture’s Wig and Weave Line was made to style any wig, weave, and extension hair as well as keep the styles looking fresh or rejuvenated. It features a total of seven products that range from wig glues all the way down to hair oils, shampoos, and more.

About My Hair

I have very coily and coarse 4C hair. Although I love my hair, it is quite difficult and time-consuming to style. Therefore, I often turn to protective styling to manage my hair. My go-to protective style is box braids, and I aim to keep them in for 4-6 weeks at a time. There are also times when I enjoy dabbling into lace-front wigs.  I often struggle with styling and maintaining lace front wigs, hence why I only wear them on special occasions. I have been looking for a way to simplify the process. My hope with using the Wig and Weave line is that it would simplify my wig maintenance process, as well as boost the look of my braiding styles over time.

Shea Moisture Wig & Weave Line: In Action

1. For Touch Ups and Hair Shine: Wig & Weave Tea Tree & Borage Seed Oil Shine Spray

If you’re looking to add enhanced shine to a style that looks a little dull, then this product should be a go-to when wearing protective styles. While wearing 6-week-old braids, I used this shine spray to enhance the dullness of my braiding hair. It took the synthetic hair from looking dry and brittle to looking as shiny as it did when I originally took it out of its packaging.

2. For Irritated Scalps: Wig & Weave Tea Tree & Seed Oil Scalp Soother

If you find that your scalp is irritated while wearing protective styles, then use the Wig & Weave Tea Tree & Seed Oil Scalp Soother to help create a more comfortable scalp. As someone who is very sensitive to traditional braiding hair and has struggled with a severely dry scalp, I find my scalp feeling very uncomfortable and irritated throughout the course of wearing braids.  After using this up to twice a week, I felt a decrease in scalp discomfort while wearing box braids which were 4-6 weeks old at the time. After getting a new box braids style, I used this oil the first night I had my braids to effectively relieve the feeling of the tightness I usually feel after getting braids.

3. For Easy Wig Application: Wig & Weave Tea Tree & Borage Seed Oil Bonding Glue

If you’re like me, wig application usually comes at a challenge.  This wig glue simplified my process by making it 10x easier to apply and remove my lace front wigs without the extra dryness and breakage that came along with removal. It is especially great for protecting your edges against the damage most traditional glues cause over time.  Its nurturing ingredients such as Tea Tree Oil, Borage Seed Oil, and Aloe Vera make it perfect for everyday wig users. Although I am not one to wear wigs frequently, this is a product I will be picking up for special occasions!

4. For Seamless Lace Front Removal: Wig & Weave Tea Tree & Borage Seed Oil Bond Release Spray

With a seamless wig application, comes an even more seamless wig removal process. With a few easy sprits around the hairline, I watched as the glue gently and quickly melted off my hairline. For once I didn’t have to painfully tug to remove a lace front wig, which I absolutely loved.

5. For Styling Wig & Extension Hair: Wig & Weave Tea Tree & Borage Seed Oil Flyaway & Wrap Mousse

Out of this line, the mousse has to be one of my favorite products. Not only is this a great way to style a wig in a variety of ways, I especially love it for touching up box braids styles. I love wearing my box braids with waves and curls at the end. However, as time goes on, I find my curls getting a bit frizzy, so I use this to touch up the flyaways, making my hair look more polished and sleek than ever.

6. For Quick Cleanups: Wig & Weave Tea Tree & Borage Seed Oil 2 in1 Conditioner & Detangler

I love using this product for quick touch-ups whenever I have a lot of product buildup from styling my protective styles. The 2 in1 Conditioner and Detangler also shine when using it to pull out a wig I hadn’t worn in a while. It helped with easy detangling before fully shampooing the wig for further styling.

7. For a Deep Clean: Wig & Weave Tea Tree & Borage Seed Oil Residue Remover Shampoo

After using the Wig & Weave Tea Tree & Borage Seed Oil 2in1 Conditioner & Detangler, I use the residue remover shampoo for an even deeper clean and restoration of the wig and weave hair. Afterward, I allow my wig and weave to dry overnight, and style it to my desired look. My wig looks just as fresh as when I first got my wig.
