I love a good picnic but wanted to try something a little more… ADVENTUROUS! I thought it would be so fun to have a little dining treasure hunt with my husband, eating our tasty food at fun outdoor stops along the way.

I knew my husband would be anticipating a fabulous date that weekend when I popped this darling invitation into our mailbox (After the postman had come, of course, didn’t want the postman thinking that I was asking him out on a date! Awkward!!) I have to rave just a bit about how fabulous these printables turned out! Our newest designer Courtney with All Things Bright and Beautiful did such a great job with these – they are so bright and fun, perfect for spring!!

First up Clue #1 to take you to dine at a dog park!! For appetizers here, I’d recommend pigs-in-a-blanket, or mini corndogs would be fun too! Just for kicks, you could serve them in little dog bowls and have your water in doggy dishes as well! If you are crafty, bust out your vinyl letters and personalize your doggy dishes with ‘His and Hers’- so fun!

You will be chowing down on your own food while you enjoy the dogs bounding around you, like Diva Sarina’s little fellow Romeo. Or maybe a pup like this one will entertain you…just avoid getting too close to trees:) Speaking of trees…

Clue #2 will take the two of you up high into a tree!! How fun to dine ‘al fresco’ waaaay up high! You will probably want to bring your food in a backpack and maybe even pack a couple of ropes to keep you strapped into the tree. Turn it into a contest to see who can climb the highest in 5 minutes! If it’s a windy day you may want to choose a tree with heavier foliage so that you don’t get blown out!

Clue #3 is my personal favorite for our dining adventure! It is so fun to go out to a restaurant to eat, but who has money to do that all the time??

Just pull around to the back of your favorite restaurant and dive on into the dumpster– you will be amazed at what they throw in there! You can have anything that you want for FREE!!

Check out this half-eaten lasagna I scored! Yummers! Hardly looks like anyone even touched it and the best part was it was still even warm- wow!

Once you’ve had your fill it is time for Clue #4– Dessert!! I wanted to keep with the outdoor theme, but with some privacy too. Check out the awesome door hanger Courtney created! It worked like a charm!

Surprisingly no one else even tried to join us for dessert… in the PORT-A-POTTY!

I hope you all enjoy this date as much as WE did! Let us know how it turned out! We can’t WAIT to hear what adventures you have! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * HAPPY APRIL FOOL’S DAY! Ha Ha Ha!!! Did you REALLY think we would send you scavenging for food from a dumpster on a date… and then finish things off munching in a port-a-potty?!?! I have to give a big THANK YOU to the Divas for all their brainstorming help and to Courtney for doing these fab designs as her very first project for The Dating Divas, she is such a good sport! Her blog is awesome with lots of free printables. Speaking of FREE PRINTABLES if you want to use this joke on your favorite fella for a funny April Fools prank. You can get your free printables here (or even use the invite and door hanger for a ‘real’ date since they are super cute!)
